Efferente Aktivität in den Statonerven einiger Landpulmonaten (Gastropoda)

Efferent activity in the static nerves of some pulmonate gastropods

Summary

Circumpharyngeal ganglia rings of Arion, Limax and Helix were removed from the animals in order to record the electrical responses of one static nerve. The following types of preparations were investigated:

  1. 1.

Both static nerves connected to the statocysts and to the cerebral ganglion: When this preparation was rotated around its longitudinal or transverse axis the frequency curves of the activity have a typical shape (Wolff, 1970) which did not significantly alter when the nerves were separated from their central connections (Figs. 1, 2).

  2. 2.

A nerve separated from its connection with the statocyst and with the contralateral static input intact: Efferent impulses (several units) were observed. When the preparation was rotated the frequency curves of these efferent impulses had maxima in special angular ranges (Figs. 4A, 5A).

  3. 3.

Contralateral static nerve also separated from its connection with the peripheral organ (=both static nerves cut near the statocysts): Spontaneous efferent impulses could be recorded but the frequency rate was no longer influenced by changing the position in space of the preparation (Figs. 3, 4B, C, 5B, C).
