Abstract

Citrus fruits are cultivated in more than 80 countries and rank first among fruit crops for worldwide production with about 73 millions tons harvested annually (FAO, 1994). Citrus fruits are an important source of human nutrition. Due to lower production costs, the cultivation of Citrus in developing countries has increased from 50 to 65% of total global production during the last few years (Chang, 1992).
