Zusammenfassung

Größe und Gewicht der annähernd kastanienförmigen Prostata hängen von Alter und Hormonsituation ab (Literaturübersicht bei Aumüller 1979). Das Gewicht hegt bei 21–25 Jahre alten Männern zwischen 17 und 28 g. Die Maße an der Vorderfläche werden mit 3,1–4,2 cm für die Länge und 3,5–5 cm für die Breite angegeben. Der Sagittaldurchmesser der Prostata beträgt 1,7–2,3 cm. Das Drüsenparenchym umfaßt 30–50 Läppchen, zu denen 15–30 exkretorische Gänge gehören, die überwiegend in die Furchen lateral des Colliculus seminalis münden. Auf einem Querschnitt (Stieve 1930, Abb. 1) erkennt man die spalt—förmige Lichtung der Harnröhre, die symphysenwärts konvex gebuchtet ist. Der CoUiculus seminahs wölbt sich von dorsal herein. Eine Untergliederung in „Lappen”, wie sie LOWSLEY (1912) ursprünghch am Embryo beschrieben hat, ist nicht zu sehen, vielmehr lassen sich 3 konzentrisch angeordnete Regionen von zunehmender Größe erkennen (FRANKS 1954a): Im Zentrum liegt die Urethra. Die hufeisenförmig ausgebildete sog. Außendrüse bildet die Hauptmasse des Organs. Ventralwärts zur Blase hin ist das Hufeisen offen, hier sieht man Muskulatur, Bindegewebe und reichliche Gefäße, auch quergestreifte Muskelfasern strahlen hier ein. Die Außendrüse umschheßt eine kleine Gruppe von unterschiedlich langen Drüsen, die die sog. Innendrüse bilden. Außen—und Innendrüse sind durch eine oft wenig markante fibromuskuläre „Kapsel” voneinander getrennt.
