Conclusions
-
1.
On the basis of a study of the mass spectra of 15 trifluoroacetates of higher aliphatic primary alcohols of normal and branched structure, the mass spectrometric criteria of the presence of 2-methyl substitution in the molecules of primary alcohols were established.
-
2.
The molecular weights of trifluoroacetates of alcohols are readily determined from the mass spectra according to the value of m/e of two characteristic ions (M-CF3)+ and (M-CF3COOH)+.
