Summary
-
1.
An investigation was made on the composition of the by-products obtained in the copolymerization of o−, m−, and p-tolyl vinyl ethers, and of the vinyl ethers of coal-tar cresols, with acrolein.
-
2.
In presence of stannous chloride, tolyl vinyl ethers and acrolein not only form polymeric products, but also react as dienophile and diene. 3,4-dihydro-2-(p-tolyloxy)-2H-pyran was isolated.
