Abstract
The basing of workpieces by means of implicit bases is considered. Such bases take the form of symmetry elements: a symmetry point on a line, a symmetry center on a plane, a symmetry line, a symmetry center in space, a symmetry plane, or a symmetry axis. The formation of reference points by means of self-centering devices is investigated in processes where implicit bases are employed. Examples of basing by means of a symmetry point on a line, a symmetry center on a plane, a symmetry line, and a symmetry axis are presented.
