Abstract

A system for measuring the mass loss of nonmetallic materials exposed to electrons, protons, and electromagnetic radiation in vacuum is described. The system consists of four temperature-controlled (at temperatures of 293, 233, 203, and 78 K) quartz crystal microbalances, which provide detailed information on the mass loss as a function of the material composition and irradiation parameters. The main features of the system of measurements and the experimental technique are discussed. An example of experimental results is presented.
