Abstract
Nanotechnology is a multidisciplinary field having great potential to be applied in agricultural sector. With the rapid fleet in world population, there is a need of increased food production to reach every single person on globe. This makes it important to find profound ways to enhance crop production, which is possible by adapting sustainable agricultural practices, that is, the use of nanofertilizers, nanoherbicides, nanobiosensors, nanoantimicrobials, and nanoantioxidants. Moreover, the role of nanoparticles in the seed germination and seedling establishment, delivery of nutrients for efficient plant production, metabolomics, genetic transformation, and food processing and packaging is evident from studies performed using recent technologies. In the current scenario, the advent of smart and innovative nano-based products is essential and needed urgently. Besides, the toxicity of nanoparticles which is a bottleneck in the progress of agri-nanotechnology business is pre-requisite to be evaluated in future research using appropriate nanobiotechnological approaches.
