Water soluble proteins from rat brain and from experimental tumors of rat nervous system

Summary

Disc electrophoretic separation of soluble proteins of rat brain and experimental tumors of the rat nervous system were performed in 10% polyacrylamide gels. As judged on the basis of relative mobilities, differences in the prealbumin protein band pattern in gels of rat brain and different tumors of the rat nervous system induced by methylnitrosourea (MNU) were more of a quantitative nature. The front bands after electrophoresis in 7.5% polyacrylamide gels using a continuous buffer system of soluble proteins of rat brain, mixed gliomas, oligodendrogliomas, astrocytomas and neurinomas all contained antigenically identical material to beef S100 protein in agreement with an earlier immunodiffusion study.

Zusammenfassung

In 10%igem Polyacrylamidgel wurde die elektrophoretische Auftrennung von wasserlöslichen Proteinen aus normalen Rattenhirnen und aus experimentellen — mittels Methylnitrosoharnstoffs (MNH) induzierten — neurogenen Tumoren der Ratte durchgeführt. Beurteilt an der relativen Wanderungsgeschwindigkeit waren die Unterschiede im Bandmuster der Präalbumine zwischen den normalen Hirnen und den verschiedenen neurogenen Tumoren offensichtlich nur quantitativer Natur. Nach elektrophoretischer Auftrennung der wasserlöslichen Proteine aus Normalhirnen und aus experimentellen Mischgliomen, Oligodendrogliomen, Astrocytomen und Neurinomen in 7,5%igem Polyacrylamidgel — unter Verwendung eines kontinuierlichen Puffersystems — enthielten die Frontbanden durchweg Antigen, das mit gereinigtem S100-Protein vom Rind identisch war.
