Recommendations for evidence-based endoscopic surgery

Abstract

In the literature, there is as yet no uniform definition of diverticular disease. Consensus in the following terminology was achieved: Colonic diverticular disease is a condition seen mostly in the sigmoid region. It is characterized structurally by mucosal herniation through the colonic wall, generally accompanied by muscular thickening, elastosis of the taenia coli and mucosal folding.
