Abstract

Although the pharmacology of cocaine has been studied in infra-human organisms, there have been few studies of its physiological effects in humans, and no systematic studies of its behavioral effects in man. This is true despite the fact that over the past few years there has been an increase in the incidence of abuse of cocaine in this country. Most of the information we now have about the effects of cocaine in man is anecdotal in nature and not based upon scientific investigations.
