Abstract
Even a superficial comparison demonstrates that, apart from C-banding, the different banding techniques reveal the same features in chromosome structure. Thus, the bright Q-bands correspond to the dark G-bands, which in turn appear to be identical with the R-light bands. This does not exclude the possibility that some similar-appearing bands have different properties. Thus, the chromosome ends apparently differ from other Q-dark bands (Ambros and Sumner, 1987; Korenberg and Rykowski, 1988).
