Abstract

FePt nanocrystals with L10 chemical order have high magnetic anisotropy. FePt nanocrystals with fcc structure need to be heated to 600 °C to form the hard magnetic L10 phase. The order parameter (S) in nanocrystals changes during annealing. The order parameter in L10 FePt nanocrystals determines the relation between chemical ordering in this structure and the position and intensity of XRD peaks. To evaluate the effect of chemical ordering in the L10 phase in a quantitative way, some equations were used to calculate the S. In this work these suggested equations are compared and the results are reported for synthesized samples. The most suitable equation is suggested by physical discussion.
