Abstract

We present a suspended waveguide consists of a double hybrid plasmonic waveguide for the purpose of enhancing the conversion efficiency of terahertz (THz) wave generation using difference frequency generation process. We show that in the THz generation process, metal-air-metal waveguide facilitates the phase matching and reduces the propagation loss. Our numerical calculation shows that the conversion efficiency in these waveguide structures can be more than one order of magnitude larger than what has been achieved using regular metal-dielectric-metal waveguides.
