Abstract
Circular dichroic (CD) spectra of a-chymotrypsin were measured in mixtures of water and ethanol, acetonitrile, or tetrahydrofuran. The catalytic activity of a-chymotrypsin in the different solvents was related to the change of CD bands especially that at 230 nm. The fine structure in near-UV region may also be useful to estimate the catalytic activity of a-chymotrypsin.
