Abstract

A new organic amine borate [(CH3)4N][B5O6(OH)4]·1/2H2O has been synthesized under solvothermal conditions, which was characterized by elemental analysis, FTIR spectrum, thermal analysis and X-ray powder diffraction. Its crystal structure was determined by single X-ray crystal diffraction, in which there exists a isolated [B5O6(OH)4] cluster. The [B5O6(OH)4] units are connected to one another through hydrogen bonds forming a three-dimensional framework with large channel along the a axis, in which the templating organic amine cations are located. According to the thermal analysis result, the effects of different temperatures on the fluorescence properties of [(CH3)4N][B5O6(OH)4]·1/2H2O were also studied, and the result shows that the fluorescence color changes with the increase of temperatures.
