Abstract
Fifty-twoPasteurella cultures isolated from mice, mostly from cases of pneumonia, are described. The strains are closely related toPasteurella pneumotropica, introduced by Jawetz, but differ from this species in some biochemical characteristics. It is suggested thatPasteurella pneumotropica can be considered as a group of related biotypes. For the cultures under discussion the name ofPasteurella pneumotropia var.xylophila is proposed.
