Summary
A variety of substrates and incubating conditions have been used to localize acid phosphatase at the fine structural level in the normal, adult planarian wormPolycelis tenuis. Enzyme activity has been found in various parts of the gastrodermis, gland cells, fixed parenchyma cells and the pharyngeal epithelial cells. The role of the enzyme at each of these sites is discussed.
