Summary
Intracytoplasmic hyaline inclusion bodies were found in the nerve cells of the hypoglossal nucleus in 150 cases out of 518 consecutive autopsy cases. These inclusion bodies are histomorphologically, histochemically and topographically distinct from any others previously described. Their incidence was found to increase with age. A high incidence among young patients with chronic alcoholism was also observed.
