Summary
One hundred eighty advanced carcinomas of the larynx and the laryngopharynx have been investigated for their grade of differentiation and for their tumour host behaviour by coronal section method. The results have been compared with the histological pictures of the biopsies taken preoperatively. A great part of the investigated carcinomas showed various degrees of differentiation and different forms of growth. In this way it is possible, that biopsies showed another histological behaviour as observed in the main tumour. The evaluation of the histological parameters for the prognosis respectively the tendency to metastasise are proved and discussed.
