Zusammenfassung

Die in der allgemeinen Onkologie übliche Klassifikation nach dem TNM-System ist auf Hirntumore nicht sinnvoll anwendbar. Weitgehend etabliert ist die im wesentlichen auf Zülch und Rubinstein beruhende WHO-Klassifikation [43], die derzeit überarbeitet wird. Neben der primären histopathologischen Typisierung erfolgt ein Grading, das neben histologischen Merkmalen auch klinisch-prognostische Parameter einbezieht, an der sich die therapeutischen Entscheidungen orientieren müssen. Eine weitere Besonderheit ist der häufig fast fließende Übergang zwischen (semi)benignen und (semi)malignen Formen.
