Zusammenfassung

Das Skelettsystem hat eine duale Aufgabe mit metabolischen und mechanischen Funktionen. Es dient als Stützorgan und als Kalziumspeicher 10,18, 20, 37.Beide Funktionen werden durch hochspezialisierte Knochen-und Knorpelzellen aufrechterhalten. Chondroblasten im weitesten Sinne sind an der Entwicklung des Skelett-systems, dem Längenwachstum und an Gelenkfunktionen sowie der Reparation ossärer Defekte beteiligt. Die gesamten ossären Strukturen werden durch zelluläre Prozesse mit umfangreichen Regelmechanismen ständig erneuert und gegebenenfalls repariert 12, 34.
