Abstract

Peritoneal dialysis (PD) represents a well-established dialysis modality for pediatric patients with end-stage renal disease (ESRD). Chronic peritoneal dialysis (CPD) currently is the dialysis treatment modality most commonly prescribed for children and adolescents throughout much of the world, and the preference for CPD over hemodialysis is most pronounced among infants and young children 0–5 years of age (13). PD has evolved substantially during the past three decades (4).
