Low-carbon Materials in Construction Industry

The special issue will bring together Humboldt fellows from around the world in the area of sustainable and green construction materials to summarize the latest advances in low-carbon green building materials. The topics of our special issue include but are not only limited to: Recyclable building materials; New green building materials; Assessment of building carbon emissions; Assessment of the life cycle of buildings and materials; Sustainability and future of building materials; Low-carbon building materials and structures; Low-carbon construction methods.

  • Yuri Ribakov

    Prof. Yuri Ribakov got his ME in Structural Engineering from the Ukrainian Institute of Water Management Engineering, Rivne, Ukraine with first class honors (1991) and PhD from the Technion – Israel Institute of Technology (2001). Carried out several research projects supported by Alexander von Humboldt Foundation. Since 2000 he is a faculty member at the Ariel University in Israel, Head of Department of Civil Engineering (2011 – 2014). Since 2014 he is a Full Professor and presently a Chair of Structural Engineering at the Ariel university. Research interests include structural concrete, reinforced concrete structures, fibered concrete, etc.

  • Xiaoying Zhuang

    Leibniz University Hannover, Germany Dr. Zhuang got her PhD in Durham University in computational mechanics and received her bachelor and master degree in civil engineering in Tongji University Shanghai. Her research interests include computational methos for multiscale and multiphysics modelling and integrated materials engineering for advanced materials and functional materials such as metamaterials and polymeric nanocomposite.
