Abstract

This chapter discusses the role played by the Committee of European Banking Supervisors (CEBS) in promoting the convergence of banking supervisory practices and supervisory cooperation in Europe (see Box 20.1 for a brief description of the CEBS). As an example of its work in this area, the CEBS has recently drafted “Guidelines for Cooperation Between Consolidating Supervisors and Host Supervisors,” which sets out the key prİnciples and practices that will enhance cross-border supervisory cooperation.
