Abstract
Intensive care physicians are increasingly getting involved in taking care of surgical patients perioperatively, due to acute physiological derangements occurring during anesthesia and surgery and requirement for close monitoring. Principles of resuscitation and a coordinated care, essential ingredients for caring for any acutely ill patient, are equally applicable to perioperative patients.
