Passing the General Surgery Oral Board Exam

Abstract

This chapter describes the common presentation and management of a patient suffering from a postoperative myocardial infarction, hypotension in the recovery room, postoperative fever, or renal failure. Some patients require surgery soon after suffering a myocardial infarction. This section outlines the evaluation and workup of a patient prior to proceeding with surgery. We will also summarize common curveballs and clean kill answers when dealing with perioperative care.
