Zusammenfassung
Die Schizophrenie ist eine der häufigsten und schwersten Erkrankungen in der Psychiatrie. Morphologische und molekulare Untersuchungen konnten pathologische Veränderungen vor allem im limbischen System aufzeigen. Eine besondere Bedeutung kommt dabei dem Dopaminsystem zu, welches enge Wechselwirkungen mit dem Neurotensinsystem zeigt. So wird die Dopamin-Ausschüttung in der Substantia nigra und im Nucleus caudatus durch Neurotensin erhöht (Faggin et al. 1990), umgekehrt führt eine Blockade der D2-Rezeptoren durch typische Neuroleptika wie Haloperidol im Nucleus accumbens und Striatum zu einem Anstieg der Neurotensinkonzentration (Levant et al. 1991).
