Abstract
Guazuma crinita Mart., which belongs to the Sterculiaceae family (chocolate tree family), is a medium-sized tree native to South America in the Amazon forest region of Peru, Brazil and Ecuador (Freytag 1951; EncarnaciĆ³n 1983). This species has a soft-light wood with good working properties that has been used for light construction, panelling, interior joinery, mouldings, cases, matches and packing.
