Zusammenfassung
Aufgabe der arteriellen Hämodynamik ist es, die physikalischen Eigenschaften des Arteriensystems zu untersuchen und darauf aufbauend Druck- und Strömungs-phänomene in den Arterien in geeigneter Weise zu beschreiben. Den nächsten Schritt bildet die Untersuchung, in welcher Weise die biologischen Vorgänge im Organismus von diesen Voraussetzungen abhängen. Schließlich ergibt sich aus diesen Erkenntnissen die Möglichkeit, neue diagnostische und therapeutische Verfahren zu entwickeln (45). Die Ausfuhrungen, die Wetterer 1956 an dieser Stelle in seinem Über-sichtsreferat (79) machte, haben bis heute ihre grundsätzliche Gültigkeit behalten. Allerdings sind seit dieser Zeit die vorhandenen theoretischen Ansüctze weiter ausgebaut und eine Fülle neuer experimenteller Befunde erhoben worden. Den ersten Abschnitt dieser Entwicklung markiert McDonalds 1960 erschienene Monographic (51), in der er die bis zu diesem Zeitpunkt vor allem von anglo-amerikanischen Autoren neu gewonnenen Erkenntnisse zusammengefaßt hat. Eine detaillierte Darstellung der arteriellen Dynamik in deutscher Sprache wurde 1968 von Wetterer und Kenner (81) vorgelegt. Diese beiden Werke ermöglichen zusammen mit einer ganzen Reihe weiterer Übersichten und Sammelbände einen Überblick über die Literatur und den jeweiligen Wissensstand (6, 8, 16, 17, 30, 50, 52, 72). Fung (29) und Noordergraaf (58) gehen in ihren Übersichten auch ausführlich auf die historische Entwicklung der arteriellen Hämodynamik und damit zusammenhängender Probleme ein.
