Analysis of the internal stress in multicomponent zinc coatings

  • Published:
Steel in Translation Aims and scope

Abstract

X-ray analysis provides information on the phase composition, macrostress, and texture of multi-component zinc coatings in which the basic alloying component is nickel. The coating is applied by hot galvanization. The coatings do not contain brittle γ phase, but a high level of type-I stress—close to the yield point of zinc-is formed on account of the heterophase structure and the solidification conditions. The coating is also characterized by axial solidification texture.
