Synthesis of Ethyl 4-(1,2,3-Selenodiazol-4-yl)-5-alkylsulfanyl- and -5-Phenylsulphonylmethylfuran-2-carboxylates

Abstract

By means of the reactions of ethyl 4-acetyl-5-bromomethylfuran-2-carboxylate with butanethiol, ethyl sulfanylacetate and sulfanylethanol the corresponding sulfides were obtained. Reactions of ethyl 4-acetyl-5-bromomethylfuran-2-carboxylate with potassium salts of phenylsulfinic acids lead to the formation of phenylsulfonylmethyl derivatives. The resulting compounds were converted into semicarbazones, which under the action of selenium dioxide form 5-functionalized ethyl 4-(1,2,3-selenodiazol-4-yl) furan-2-carboxylates.
