Synthesis and X-ray diffraction study of intermetallic compounds of curium with ruthenium

  • Published:
Radiochemistry Aims and scope

Abstract

A microsample of an alloy prepared from curium-244 and ruthenium by high-temperature deposition of the vapor of metallic Cm on a Ru support was studied. Two intermetallic compounds were found: Ru2Cm with the orthorhombic lattice of the Zn2Mg type and Ru3Cm with the cubic lattice of the Cu3Au type. The transformation of these intermetallic compounds into X-ray amorphous state under α-radiation of 244Cm was monitored.
