Abstract

Micrometer-thick CdS films were studied using microwave photoconductivity (the cavity method in the 3-cm range), X-ray phase analysis, and diffuse reflection methods. The films were grown by pyrolysis of aerosol of thiocarbamide coordination compounds at a substrate temperature of 250–550°C and contained a chlorine impurity. A pulsed nitrogen laser (337 nm) with a pulse duration of 10 ns was used for optical excitation. The dependence of the parameters of the microwave photoconductivity response, band gap energy, and lattice microstrain on the film synthesis temperature was detected.
