Some colloidochemical properties of molybdenum blues synthesized using glucose as a reducing agent

Abstract

Samples of molybdenum blues are synthesized using glucose as a reducing agent. The effect of synthesis conditions on the characteristics of particles is studied. It is established that, irrespective of the synthesis temperature and the order of reagent mixing, the dispersed phase consists of ring-shaped particles the sizes of which are no larger than 5 nm. The resulting disperse systems are stable in a pH range of 0.8–3.0. It is shown that, in this pH range, the ζ-potential of the particles is negative, while, at pH below 0.7, it is positive.
