Abstract

We generate a broadband similariton of the 50 THz bandwidth, and characterize it completely through the chirp measurement technique of frequency tuning and spectral compression in the sum-frequency generation process. Our studies result in the description of the broadband similariton, interesting for applications to the signal analysis and synthesis problems in ultrafast optics, particularly for similariton-induced temporal lensing and similariton-based spectral interferometry.
