Abstract

One of the most serious environmental threats of modern civilization, namely, soil degradation and, respectively, the loss of soil resources, is discussed in this article. This danger, which is approaching a global scale, has been in the focus of scientists’ and specialists’ attention for a long time. However, in the authors’ opinion, the measures taken on legislative, administrative, and economic protection of soil resources are far from being sufficient.
