Abstract

ALLOGRAFTS from minced muscle tissue and free muscle grafts are retained, as are other types of allografts, if immunological tolerance is induced in the recipients by neonatal injection of antigen1, but are rejected in untreated animals1,2. Recovery of contractile and histochemical properties of the regenerating muscle fibres in such free muscle allografts in tolerant rats has been observed. This study was designed to determine the fate of free muscle grafts transferred to animals treated in adult life.
