A Study in the Adsorption Behaviors of Cr (VI) on Crosslinked Cationic Starches

Abstract

The adsorption behaviors between Cr (VI) and crosslinked cationic starch with quaternary ammonium group were investigated in various conditions. The adsorption processes are found to be dependent on the initial pH of the solution, the dose of the absorbents, initial concentration of Cr (VI), and adsorption temperature. The adsorption reaches equilibrium in a short time, and follows the Langmuir isotherm. The adsorption capacity increases with the increasing cationic groups. The adsorption thermodynamics study shows that adsorption processes are exothermic, and lower temperature is favorable to the adsorption of Cr (VI).
