Abstract
Barenblatt has pioneered the use of the cohesive zone model to quantify the effect of material non-linearity on the fracture behaviour of materials. As a tribute to his outstanding contributions in the fracture field, the paper appraises the effect of the stress-relative displacement law on failure predictions using the cohesive zone model.
