Abstract
The reaction of 3-azido-4-hydroxy-2-alkynenitriles with hydrogen chloride is accompanied by intramolecular ring closure with formation of 5,5-dialkyl-4-azido-2,5-dihydrofuran-2-imine hydrochlorides which can be converted into the corresponding free bases by the action of potassium carbonate in ethanol.
