Abstract
An optical arrangement of a laser with a two-channel combined cavity ensuring the formation of giant pulses from a free-running initiating radiation upon cavity Q-switching is described. Pulse-to-pulse tuning of the giant-pulse lasing frequency is achieved through the selection of a initiating radiation in the circuit of photoelectric control over the active shutter. It is shown that, when changing from single-channel to a two-channel radiation passage through the active element, the tuning range of the giant-pulse lasing frequency in lasers with self-injection of the initiating radiation in the free-running mode can be increased by a factor of almost two.
