Abstract

Ag-loaded zeolite is a promising antibacterial material. However, the limited Ag loading limits the improvement of antibacterial performance. How to increase the Ag loading amount is an urgent issue. Herein, Ag-loaded Zn-hybrid NaA zeolite with high Ag loading of (43.26 ± 0.48)% was prepared by using Zn-hybrid NaA zeolite as carrier via solid phase ionic exchange method. The carrier of Zn-hybrid NaA zeolite was prepared by a single-mode microwave method with sodium silicate, sodium metaaluminate, and zinc nitrate as raw materials. The physicochemical property was systematically characterized by XRD, XRF, XPS, FT-IR, and SEM. The results showed that Zn species entered the NaA zeolite framework in the Zn-hybrid NaA zeolite, instead of the simple ion exchange. In addition, the synthetic mechanism of Ag-loaded Zn-hybrid NaA zeolite was discussed in detail. The antibacterial activity, sustained-release performance, anti-tarnish property were investigated. What’s more, the antibacterial mechanism was proposed based on the experimental result.
