Welded joints of machine parts, vehicle components, and many engineering structures operate under non-stationary multi- and gigacyclic loading. Long-term operation of serial welded structures necessitates monitoring the stability of the manufacturing and repair technologies of welded joints by statistically processing the results of cyclic durability tests. The methodology for statistical processing of such data assumes either final failure of the tested parts or the occurrence of fatigue macrocracks of certain sizes. The proposed strain-gauge differential method allows one to control the stability of the manufacturing and repair technologies of welded joints not only by the stability criteria of fatigue macrocrack initiation and growth to specified sizes under the given conditions of cyclic loading, but also by the criterion of the occurrence of microplastic deformations.
