Law governing shear-induced creep of clayey soils

  • Published:
Soil Mechanics and Foundation Engineering Aims and scope

Abstract

Models for the deformation of soils subject to consolidating pressures are discussed. Results of experimental investigations of the creep of clayey soils under simple shear, a generalized law of shear-induced creep, and experimental conformations of its applicability to both ordinary, and swelling soils and soils prone to slump-type settlement are presented.
