Application of photonic crystal based nonlinear ring resonators for realizing all optical full subtractor

  • Published:
Optical and Quantum Electronics Aims and scope Submit manuscript

Abstract

Nonlinear ring resonators were used for designing an all optical subtractor. The nonlinear ring resonators were created by adding some Kerr type rods around the core section of the resonant rings in order to realize threshold switching. The proposed structure has three inputs and two outputs. The proposed structure was designed and simulated using finite difference time domain method. For the proposed structure the maximum rise time is about 3.5 ps.
