Amino-modified polyvinyl alcohol fibers for the efficient removal of uranium from actual uranium-containing laundry wastewater

  • Published:
Journal of Radioanalytical and Nuclear Chemistry Aims and scope Submit manuscript

Abstract

A kind of amino-modified polyvinyl alcohol fibers were prepared to extract uranium from actual uranium-containing laundry wastewater. The Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy and X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy confirmed that amino groups were successfully attached to polyvinyl alcohol fibers' surface. The maximum adsorption capacity of uranium is 337.84 mg g−1 (pH 6.0). In the actual uranium-containing laundry wastewater system the modified fibers exhibited a high distribution coefficient for uranium (1.55 × 105 mL g−1). Given the aforesaid findings, It is an outstanding adsorbent for uranium elimination from actual uranium-containing laundry wastewater.
