Direct Synthesis of Lead and Lead Chloride Nanoparticles via Simple One-Pot Calcination of One-Dimensional Lead(II) Coordination Polymer

Abstract

A new lead(II) one-dimensional coordination polymer, {[Pb22-Cl-8-Hq)(μ3-Cl-8-Hq)(NO3)2(H2O)0.5(CH3OH)0.5](Cl-8-HqH)0.5}n (1) [Cl-8-HqH = (5-chloro-8-hydroxyquinoline], has been synthesized and characterized. The single-crystal X-ray data of compound 1 shows that it has two types of PbII ions with stereo-chemically active lone electron pair. Mixture of Pb and PbCl2 nanoparticles, with regular morphology, was prepared from simple one-pot calcination of 1.
