Abstract

Two Mn(II) coordination polymers [Mn(atza)2(H2O)2] n (1) and [Mn(atza)(2,2′-bipy)(H2O)] n ·nClO4 (2) (2) [atza = 5-aminotetrazole-1-acetato] have been synthesized and characterized by X-ray diffraction analysis, element analysis and IR spectra. Each Mn(II) ion has a distorted octahedral coordination geometry in 1 and 2, and the Mn(II) ion centres are connected through the atza bridging ligands to form a 1D ribbon-type polymeric chain for 1 and a 2D layer structure for 2.
