A model describing the parameters of the semiconductor alloys with a small bowing based on the fusion–repelling behavior

Abstract

The fusion–repelling behavior between the substances is proposed to determine the parameters of the alloys. Based on the fusion–repelling behavior, a model is established. It is adopted to describe the band gap energy with a small bowing coefficient. The following rules are found: (1) The repelling behavior for the conduction band is stronger than that for the valence band. (2) When the cations are given, the repelling behavior becomes strong as the electronegativity of the anion increases. (3) When the anion is given, the repelling behavior becomes strong as the atomic size mismatch and electronegativity difference between the cations increase.
